The Rise and Fall of Wu-Tang, an epic infodiscography in three parts (via @boingboing)
I find that the Wu-Tang Clan albums are like the Matrix movies. The first, with little budget, pressure or influence, stood as an example of genuine creativity.
The others, with a bigger budget and less “constraints”, turned out to be exactly that - constrained, similar to the bigger things of the time and ultimately pretty forgettable, save for a few moments.
Dudes. Dudettes. My friends Nerds With Guitars just put our their new EP, “For The Record” out on BandCamp. You should buy it if you like nerd rock because:
- It’s awesome
- It’s pay-what-you-can, and proceeds go towards a full-length album (For the Record. Get it?)
- Supporting people who are working towards their dreams is something that I can get behind. These guys have been working their asses off in order to make something work, and I can respect that.
- Even if you don’t buy their album, give them a listen. Forward their page to someone who might like them. Show the nerd love.

Whelp, just found my new writing playlist.
Lately I’ve been having trouble getting the motivation to start a couple projects (namely, my comics blog and a comic book project). Even though I know I can do both projects, there’s something holding me back from actually starting. While I don’t think it’s a lack of passion, I think it’s a little bit of fear what’ll happen if I succeed, or (perhaps more) if I fail.
Today was the first time I listened to this song in earnest, and I was amazed at how it pretty much summarized what tons of pages of self-help books have already told me.
